Squeeze Conveyor

Squeeze Conveyor for packaging lines. These are special material handling conveyors used for squeezing or gripping the sides of a can or bottle and conveying the container without the base of the container being in contact with a traditional cable or table top conveyor belt. While the term Squeeze Conveyor is the most common term for this type of conveyor, they are also called "Gripper Conveyors" or "Gap Transfer Conveyors". We have high quality Squeeze Conveyors for your application.

Squeeze ConveyorSqueeze Conveyor is often used for inkjet or laser coding the base of a container, squeezing the sides of a plastic bottle for seal integrity inspection or bridging the gap between two conveyor sections.

Squeeze Conveyors are very simple devices that offer packaging companies flexibility for coding or package handling issues. The elimination of "flipping" containers for coding or laying them on their side for seal inspection improves overall packaging line efficiency by reducing the potential for jams when up-righting the containers for conveying to downstream operations.

These Squeeze Conveyors can be made in various lengths for your application requirements and all come with the safety features and machine guarding to meet OSHA standards.

This video shows "How Squeeze Conveyors Work". The bottles or cans are conveyed by a cable conveyor or table top conveyor to the Squeeze Conveyor infeed. The Squeeze Conveyor has two "Gripping Belts" which are programmed to run synchronous with the infeed conveyor. The containers are gripped by the sides and supported as they travel across the open area between the infeed and outfeed conveyor or deposited onto a pack off station. The amount of sidewall pressure applied to the package is adjustable with precision hand-wheels for repeatability and easy set-up and changeovers.

Squeeze Conveyor for Bottom CodingSqueeze Conveyors for inkjet or laser coding the bottom of bottles and cans. The squeeze conveyor is installed between a gap in two conveyors segments thereby creating an open area to mount a laser or inkjet coding head and code the bottom of the container. Squeeze Conveyor for gap transfer of containers from one segment of conveyor to another segment of conveyor or to a pack off station. Squeeze Conveyors can be used to deposit containers on to a portable packaging machines infeed conveyor or a rotary accumulation conveyor without the need for a dead plate transfer. A dead plate transfer will cause unstable packages to fall over and using a squeeze conveyor will stabilize the containers and keep them upright and under control at all times.

Squeeze Conveyor for InspectionSqueeze Conveyors for plastic bottle seal integrity inspection can be used in one of two ways. The inspection system can be directly mounted to the squeeze conveyor or installed just after the squeeze conveyor. Because the plastic bottles are being squeezed by the conveyor, if bottle does not have a good seal integrity (loose cap or missing induction seal) the package will not be as ridged as a good container and product inside the bottle will be forced up or into the bottle (creating a high fill) or out of the package (creating a low fill). If the inspection system is mounted to the squeeze conveyor it will detect the high fill level indicating a loose seal or cap. If the inspection system is mounted after the squeeze conveyor, when the bottle is released from the squeeze conveyor the product level will now be lower in the bottle and the inspection system will detect this low fill level.
